Everyone who does web design knows color is very complex in how it makes a user feel upon first sight. Plenty of science is still written on the use of color design for the digital world.

When vying for attention in a crowded digital landscape, standing out with a beautiful display does help. Not that one should throw bright colors on their design merely because it trends.

Also, one has to think about how long the novelty of brighter LED screens last. Once the public is more used to that, bright colors may not impress quite as much as more classic colors do.

What Type of Companies Should Use Brighter Colors?

An effective point for the brighter colors above is that they often look great against dark backgrounds. For a vibrant, new company wanting to attract a younger audience, these color choices are also worth using.

The real point of user bolder colors is to highlight CTA buttons. A new company is obviously going to want to attract new users to take action on downloading content or similar offers. Using bright purples and reds creates a better sense of energy and urgency for a user to click.

A good example of bolder color use is how music streaming apps often place a bold color on their Play buttons. Nevertheless, many professional companies now employ these colors when they perhaps would not have at one time.

Entrain (a notable meditation app) uses bold purples for their user logs. No one would think using bold colors for meditation would become so marketable all of a sudden.

One Classic Bold Color That Hangs On

Out of all the bolder color choices being made for app design lately, one color continues to endure: blue. According to scientific analysis, men and women both like blue beyond any other color in app designs. Plus, it always looks amazing on a bright LED screen.

Some of the biggest companies in the world also use blue a lot in their app designs, including Twitter, Facebook, and Microsoft. Perhaps this is the real subtle secret to their successes.

Expect to see more shades of blue, if somewhat brighter into the coming year. Part of this includes all shades of blue in mainstream social media share links, which is not beyond coincidence.
