Sean Taylor is a technology entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of Jaroop. Jaroop, founded in 2010, is an industry leading technology solutions firm for insurance distribution. Sean is passionate about partnering with carriers, agencies, financial services firms, brands, and affiliated marketplaces to leverage technology and operational innovation to disrupt the insurance distribution space.
Sean’s focus is building relationships with key executives and influencers from across the insurance industry that can collectively force disruptive change. Sean firmly believes in the exponential value of connecting and aligning the right people and the right technology to deliver the best possible business and consumer outcomes.
An entrepreneur at heart, Sean has founded, invested in, and advised dozens of companies, many of which have experienced significant success including strategic and financial exits. Sean prides himself on his ability to make deals that generate a significant amount of shared value, where all stakeholders win, leading to positive outcomes and long-lasting relationships/friendships.
Prior to founding Jaroop, Sean was a Practice Leader at FMI, a management consulting and investment banking firm. In addition to working with numerous clients on achieving their business objectives, Sean personally oversaw a significant acquisition for FMI of a compensation data analytics firm, proceeding to overhaul their technology, incorporating data analytics and machine learning to build the FMI's first SaaS-based solution that successfully augmented the firm's client-service based business.
Sean has a Masters in Business Administration from University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut. Sean resides in Simsbury, Connecticut with his wife and two sons. He enjoys spending his free time with his family, cycling, running, hiking, kayaking, playing chess, performing in theater, investing, and being a die hard Detroit Lions fan.
Aaron Cravez is the Director of Operations at Jaroop. Aaron oversees the full range of consulting and technical operations for the company, working closely with clients on making sure that the right people, processes, and technology are aligned to help them achieve their goals. Dually capable as a strategist and implementation specialist, Aaron brings a unique capability to “see the big picture and make sure it actually succeeds.” His efforts and care for clients and partners have been the bedrock of very meaningful relationships insurance and beyond.
Aaron has personally overseen numerous insurance distribution initiatives with partners, being the go-to contact for carriers, agencies, and solution providers. His ability to understand that business needs change and to encourage agile, open communication has shepherded significant results under tight timelines. Aaron’s repeated success of implementing a rapid distribution process and technology development to help reduce costs by shrinking fulfillment lead times and restructuring operations centers has been heralded by industry peers. Aaron enjoys working with executives on strategic objectives and helping them operationalize these efforts to boost distribution performance and maximize ROI.
In addition to his client work and leadership of the consulting and engineering teams at Jaroop, Aaron oversees Jaroop's product and service development strategy. Aaron is especially adept at identifying pain points in the insurance distribution area and working alongside Jaroop’s professional service and R&D team to develop services and technology to serve carriers, agencies, and affiliate partners.
Prior to joining Jaroop, Aaron served as a digital transformation consultant for DXC Technology, helping fortune 100 companies implement process, tools, and organization changes to meet their business objectives. Aaron spent a significant portion of his career in the broader financial services space, much of which has lent itself effectively to driving innovation in insurance.
Aaron lives in Southern Connecticut with his wife and daughter. When he's not diving into process and technology improvements, Aaron likes to disconnect by getting out in the wilderness on long trail runs or backpacking adventures.
Brian is the Director of Research & Development at Jaroop. For Jaroop, Brian leads the charge in the research, planning, architecture, development, and deployment of Jaroop’s most complex and challenging technical initiatives in insurance distribution. While Brian is an extremely capable engineer, his talent lies in his ability to see the big picture and understand the business implications and market opportunities of particular technical choices. This makes him uniquely suited to help not just solve for “how to build it” but also evaluate the return on investment of the build, which helps greatly in maximizing return on investment in technology.
Well versed across a variety of technologies, Brian provides immense value for Jaroop and its partners by being able to understand how different systems should best communicate with each other for efficiency and scalability. His ability to converse on the most technical of subjects and relay information to non-technical stakeholders is appreciated by his peers, and adds tremendous value.
An innovator at heart, Brian is always looking for ways to incorporate cutting edge technology, where appropriate, to keep Jaroop and its partners a step ahead of the market. He takes pride in the ability to build rapid MVP’s to gather learnings before investing deeply in a solution. Brian’s passion for pushing those around him to be better and more innovative is a driving force in the progression Jaroop has made in InsurTech.
Brian holds a BS and MS from Yale University in Biomedical Engineering. His research on applying machine learning to biomedical imaging was patented and published in peer-reviewed journals. His patent is titled “Quantitative analysis and visualization of spatial points”. Brian is also passionate about helping others and giving back to society. He has actively been serving his hometown (Waterbury, Connecticut) community as a Commissioner of the Waterbury Housing Authority and is very involved in efforts to make his community a better place to work and live.
Rae Marin is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Jaroop. Rae is passionate about connecting with other people, building relationships, and helping her partner companies be successful. More than just a typical Sales and Marketing focused individual, Rae is not just concerned about business development and cares deeply about the overall success of her partner firms. Her strategic, high energy, and people-centric approach is valued by partners, team members, and marketplace relationships.
Rae’s experience in InsurTech along with her industry relationships have made her an influencer and catalyst for helping companies and their products/services get recognized in the marketplace. In addition to helping position Jaroop in its products in the marketplace, she often works with Jaroop’s partners to help them gain traction and visibility in the insurance distribution space, providing advice on product development, pricing and marketing. Rae’s consultative nature, understanding of the marketplace, and high-octane approach is appreciated by partners and has fueled success for a number of clients and initiatives. Additionally, Rae hosts Jaroop’s upcoming video podcast, set to launch in the summer of 2021 with the focus on using Jaroop’s network of connections to foster knowledge exchange and learnings within the insurance industry.
Prior to being at Jaroop, Rae spent a significant portion of her professional career working with both professional service and product-based companies in the insurance and healthcare industries. Well-versed in mainstream businesses, strategic partnerships, and high-paced startups and ventures, she demonstrated a proven record of accomplishments in the form of new adjudication programs created across the supply chain.
Rae is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Quantic School of Business. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport and is certified in Six Sigma from Villanova University. Rae enjoys running and traveling the world.
Steven Shapiro is a Senior Solutions Architect with Jaroop. Steven combines significant experience in insurance distribution with technical understanding to architect meaningful, comprehensive solutions that drive insurance production. Steven enjoys working deeply with clients to streamline operational workflows and improve agent and customer experiences, increase automation, improve analytical capabilities, scale up engagement and satisfaction, and launch new technology solutions. Clients rave about Steven’s ability to “go deep” on just about any technical or business topic around insurance distribution and his ability to confidently recommend appropriate architecture and guide technical design and implementation.
Driven with endless curiosity and a penchant for knowledge, Steven desires to truly understand customer, agent, and digital experiences. He has personally spent over two-thousand hours with agents and back-office staff studying behaviors, personalities, listening on calls and watching customers move through online journeys. This insight gives him a unique ability to speak from the voice of the customer, agent, user, etc. and provide meaningful feedback on how different tweaks to their experiences will boost results.
Prior to joining Jaroop, Steven worked for a startup in the InsurTech space that focused on digital distribution and also with JP Morgan Chase focusing on customer analytics. Steven holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds Advanced Certification for SAS 9 and Base Certification for SAS 9.
Steven belongs to the northern Chicago suburbs and loves to listen to music. His favorite genres are Blues, Rock & Roll, Jazz, Funk, Soul, and Jam and admires guitarists Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, Roy Buchanan, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Bloomfield, and Jerry Garcia. Steven loves adventures and frequently goes hiking up to glacial ponds, alpine lakes, and floating down the rivers. He is planning rafting and backpacking trips to explore new areas this year.
Christina Popik is the User Experience Architect at Jaroop. Christina leads the charge for Jaroop’s clients and partners to create amazing web and mobile experiences. Her unique eye for design, combined with an analytical approach to user experience, has resulted in numerous accolades in the insurance industry. Christina believes that it is critical to take time to fully understand the desired outcome, user personas, and related processes before beginning design. She focuses intensely on the business, often engaging with client employees and consumers to gather focus group feedback to help drive effective design recommendations.
At Jaroop, she works hand-in-hand with solutions architects and engineers to make sure that her recommendations are both feasible and add business value for Jaroop’s clients. Christina and her team illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps, and designing graphic user interface prototypes to help with planning and development. Additionally, Christina is passionate about user analytics, thinking through ways for her team to use data to gain learnings and make informed user interface decisions. Christina understands what motivates customer engagement and agent performance in insurance distribution and uses that knowledge to create mutually rewarding experiences for all stakeholders. Christina has been consistently recognized by clients and insurance industry peers as being a trailblazer with their user interface and user experience concepts and designs.
Christina has a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic and Interactive Design from Quinnipiac University. Her other subjects of studies included computer science and psychology. She loves arts and crafts, photography, traveling to new places, trying out different coffee shops and breweries, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family.
